The new Microsoft Office 2007 includes a new user interface completely different from previous versions of Office. So the model extensibility after the user interface is also completely new.
So much like the old toolbars and menus extending the object model was difficult to use them effectively. The new model is called the custom UI RibbonX and claimed many of the same attributes of the new user interface: easy to use, consistency, modernity and predictive power for end users.
RibbonX untangle the design of the user interface from the underlying code using XML to specify the content and structure, with a callback mechanism underlying dynamic. Throughout this article go into all the details, but first there are some things that experts, developers of Office want to know about the new user interface.
To move away from the old user interface, Microsoft is also leaving behind a lot of familiar terminology and concepts being replaced by new and unknown. Let's start by analyzing the basic concepts of the new user interface to make sure we are all on the same level. |
